Call for Tenders to study the potential impact of High Value Datasets

The European Commission has launched a call for tenders on the Impact Assessment Study on High Value Datasets

The European Commission has launched a call for tenders for a study to support the preparation of the Impact Assessment on the implementing act laying down a list of High-Value Datasets (HVDs). Member States will have to make HVDs available under re-use friendly conditions in accordance with the Open Data and the re-use of Public Sector Information (PSI) Directive . This Directive facilitates the availability and re-use of public sector data and provides for the publication of HVDs - datasets that offer greater contributions to the economy and society through their re-use. These datasets will be made available for re-use free of charge, in machine readable format and through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).The objectives of this study are:

  • To identify in every EU Member State specific datasets that should belong to the list of HVDs.
  • To analyse the possible impacts of making the HVDs available for re-use free of charge.
  • To identify and quantify the socio-economic benefits, impacts, and potentials for artificial intelligence applications of the identified datasets.
  • To assist in organising and analysing the results of a public hearing and public consultation on HVDs.

The maximum amount allocated to the study is €500 000. The closing date for the call is 30 August 2019 at 16:00 CET.
