Looking back at the Digital Excellence Forum @ ICT Proposers' Day
On 19 and 20 September, the event Digital Excellence Forum @ ICT Proposers' Day was held in Helsinki, Finland, and had over 3,000 attendees from developers, business executives, as well as government and European Institution representatives. The event was opened by Khalil Rouhana, the Deputy Director-General of DG Connect in the European Commission and Jari Partanen, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland. They highlighted the importance of digital transformation in bringing benefits to all citizens across the EU and the importance of joint efforts across sectors to respond to global challenges. The two-day event had several sessions, including:
- Cybersecurity;
- Digital Europe Programme - Artificial Intelligence;
- Unlocking advanced digital skills training opportunities in the Digital Europe Programme; and
- Digital Europe Programme - Deployment, best use of digital capacity and interoperability: Citizen-centric digital Public Services and Digital Cultural Heritage.
The European Data Portal's (EDP) Marit Blank was part of the last mentioned session and discussed the importance of data literacy and skills in education and in the role data and open data play in shaping digital transformation in Europe.
