How can you improve Zurich?

First MakeZurich hackathon to take place on 3 February

From 3 to 4 February, the Swiss city of Zurich will host the first MakeZurich hackathon. During this event, the local hacker & maker community and the city's administration will come together to explore new ways of solving problems with the help of open networks, civic tech and Open Data. For the hackathon the administration has selected six problems, called challenges, for which they are looking for new and innovative solutions. These challenges are:

  1. Groundwater meter
  2. Nightlife noise
  3. Bicycle commuter
  4. Bicycle tracking
  5. Enviromental exploration
  6. City gardens

For developers who want to explore innovative solutions to other problems, there is also a seventh 'Open challenge' which can cover other issues. In preparation of the hackathon itself a kick-off meeting & drink will be organised on 27 January. Following the kick-off and until the hackathon there is an open lab where participants can already familiarise themselves with the hackathon. A team should consist of at least two and a maximum of eight people. Do you and your team think you have the solution for one of the challenges? Then do not wait and register your team today!
