From 17 to 19 November 2015, the Smart City Expo World Congress took place in Barcelona. During this congress, the European Commission's Future Internet Public-Private Partnership Programme (FI-PPP) activities were represented. The main outcome of those activities is the platform FIWARE.
First of all, FIWARE can make use of the data made available by the European Data Portal for its growing open community of FIWARE developers. Secondly, FIWARE will collaborate with TM Forum, the global industry association for digital business, to speed up the development of new smart city applications. Moreover, an open Internet-of-Things-platform will be created in collaboration with The Things Network. Lastly, FIWARE partners with the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) for the Global City Teams Challenge 2016 program.
