The European Week of Regions and Cities (#EURegionsWeek) is the biggest annual Brussels-based event dedicated to regional policy. The event is a unique communication and networking platform that brings together regions and cities from all over Europe, including their political representatives, officials as well as experts and academics. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event has been extended to take place from 5 to 22 September. The EU Datathon 2020 is one of the events organised during this week and has grown to become one of the leading platforms of open data in Europe and will take place on Thursday 15 October.
The purpose of this week of events is to discuss common challenges for European regions and cities and find solutions in a collaborative environment. The participants of this week are government and EU officials, journalists, academics, representatives of businesses, organisations, and unions and private citizens. The themes of the European Week of Regions and Cities 2020 are:
