The European Data Portal (EDP) speaks in Kyiv

The EDP presents the Open Data Maturity 2018 results and discusses open data impact at national level

On 5 and 6 March, Ukraine hosted the 'Regional Seminar for integrating environmental information in national E-Governance/Open data frameworks and platforms' in Kyiv. The event was organised by the European Environment Agency in the context of the European external action initiatives in the EU's Eastern Neighbourhood. The conference hosted e-Government and open data decision-makers from the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. The conference focused on open data publication and re-use in the environmental field and the challenges and barriers of publishing environmental open data and measuring its impact.

The European Data Portal was invited to present the results of the Open Data Maturity in Europe 2018 report and the methodology to assess and measure open data impact. In addition, the talk focused on European best practices in terms of open data policy, portals, impact and increasing open data quality. The EaP countries were interested in understanding the barriers that the European Union Member States are facing in terms of open data publication and re-use and how they are overcoming these barriers.
