Open data will be used to grow the food and farming industry
UK Environment Secretary Elizabeth Truss revealed plans how the re-use of Open Data can contribute to the farming industry.
She encouraged farmers and the food industry to seize the opportunities offered by open data as our population grows towards 9 billion people living on Earth by 2050.
Truss was quoted saying: "As our population grows so does the demand on our food sources - I don't see this as a problem, but as a huge opportunity."
With the rapidly growing global population, it is essential that farmers, suppliers and consumers have the data they need to make informed choices.
