The "Data Bible" 2.0 for journalists all over the world
The European Journalism Centre and Google News Lab joined forces for the new Data Journalism Handbook
The Data Journalism Handbook has become the reference for students, researchers, and journalists around the world; it was already downloaded as open source over 150,000 times. In 2018, the second edition will be published. The new version comes with an updated overview on latest practices and projects in the field of data journalism and an international focus, showing the bigger picture of data journalism trends.
An open tender for contribution brought authors and experts together. In a "Handbook Hack", content for the new version was created and edited collectively to make the Data Journalism Handbook truly open and collaborative. As soon as one chapter is finished, the Public Data Lab will publish it. Anyone fluent in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Indonesian Bahasa, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Hindi, or Bengali is encouraged to contribute to the translation of the second version of the handbook to support its outreach into every corner of the world.
