TheyWorkForYou is a parliamentary monitoring website that aims to make it easier for UK citizens to understand what is going on in the Parliament. The website uses data from official parliamentary sources and presents the data in a more accessible way. For example, the website offers features that make it easy for citizens to find out who represents them, how their representants voted, and what they have said in debates.
To show users what UK politicians have said in debates, the website uses Hansard reports – transcripts from parliamentary debates that are publicly available. Data from these transcripts are presented per topic, and with additional information such as the date of the debate and the amount of speeches during the debate. Every word that is spoken in the debates is presented and permalinks are provided.
TheyWorkForYou is one of the over 450 use cases published on the European Data Portal. If you are aware of another inspiring use case, share your experience and knowledge about different applications and websites using open data with the EDP via mail, Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn.
