Open Data for Italian Public Administrations
Public Consultation open until 9 October
Following several legislative developments and the transposition of the European Directive on Public Sector Information, the Italian government has embraced the principle of Open Data by default. To ensure the principle is adopted efficiently by all public administrations with interoperable specifications, the government updated the Guidelines for the Development of the Public Information Heritage 2016. In this document, the Agency for Digital Italy (AgID) provides advice and sets standards to help public administrations in handling their data. To ensure these new guidelines fit the need of the administrations, they have been open for public consultation until 9 October.
Under the new guidelines, it will be easier for public administrations to deal with the full Open Data lifecycle. For example with advice on how to structure architecture of public data, publish quality data, adhere to international standards or which Open license to use. By combining all the guidelines, a new organisational model for a data management system can be constructed which is compatible with the Italian and European digital agenda. AgID is now welcoming people from the Open Data community to comment or propose amendments to further improve the document.
