Explore cities by bike with Bike Citizens

Bike Citizens gets you from A to B and shows you points of interest in the city

Bike Citizens is a free bike navigation application that was created in 2011. The application provides cycling routes in more than 450 cities worldwide. It shows users how to get to their preferred destination and lets users choose if they, for example, prefer the fastest route or to cycle at a more leisurely pace. Additionally, the application shows users points of interests and visitor attractions to get to know cities better. Besides route planners, Bike Citizens offers cycling tours created by local cyclists. Furthermore, users can see a personalised summary of the trips they have cycled and additional information on their cycling behaviour.

Bike Citizens aims to give users the possibility to contribute to the liveability and engagement in cities through a growing bike culture. In addition, they aim to improve and optimise bike traffic infrastructure in cities with the help of more than 450.000 users worldwide. Bike Citizens is based on the freely accessible geodatabank OpenStreetMap.

Bike Citizens is one of the over 500 use cases published on the European Data Portal. If you are aware of another inspiring use case, share your experience and knowledge about different applications and websites using open data with the EDP via mail, Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn.
