Data Governance in a Digitally Transformed Europe

The Joint Research Centre published "The Governance of Data in a Digitally Transformed European Society"

The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's service for science and knowledge that aims to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy. DigiTranScope - Digital Transformation and Governance of Human Society - is a community within the JRC, which aims to build a network of experts that create, collect and curate a deep understanding of digital transformation.

On 24-25 October 2018, DigiTranScope hosted their 2nd DigiTranScope workshop to discuss data governance in a digitally transformed Europe. The workshop addressed issues such as the growing demand for improving citizens' control over their personal data and the changing flows of data between high-tech companies, individuals and public institutions. Participants came from academia, research, consultancy firms and the public sector.

This workshop is the second event in the project DigiTranScope: Digital Transformation and the Governance of Human Society (2018-2020), an initiative that aims to explore the deep transformations caused by adopting digital technologies in public and private institutions and within the organisational fabric of society. The findings of this event are published in the report DigiTranScope: Report for Workshop "The Governance of Data in a Digitally Transformed European Society".
