Spanish challenge: the value of Open Data for public administrations

How Open Data improves the efficiency of public administrations

Citizens, companies and research groups throughout the European Union are invited to participate in a challenge organised by the Spanish Secretariat of State for the Information Society and the Digital Agenda, the Public Business Entity Red.es, and the General Secretariat of Digital Administration. This challenge, called Desafío Aporta 2017, is about developing creative solutions based on Open Data that improve the efficiency of public administrations.

The goal of the challenge is to encourage the direct re-use of Open Data sets for the improvement of the public sector, and to encourage the talent and creativity of the participants. The challenge consists of two phases, as described here. During Phase I, which concludes on June 9, participants are invited to come up with ideas on how the re-use of Open Data leads to improved efficiency in the public sector. To this end, participants are invited to complete the form available here . The ideas received will be evaluated in July by an expert jury.

By the end of July 2017, the ten winning ideas will be made public, and their authors will be invited to participate in Phase II of the challenge. From that date, the authors of the finalist nominations will have to develop a prototype associated with the idea presented, which will be presented at Encuentro Aporta 2017, taking place at the end of October in Madrid.

Interested in this challenge? Read more here and submit your idea before 9 June!
