Public consultation on the EU data strategy

Give your opinion on the EU data strategy through the online public consultation until 31 May

The European Commission (EC) would like to hear your views on its European strategy for data. The results of this survey will feed into possible future EC initiatives on access to and re-use of data in the coming months. The aim of the European strategy for data is to create a single European data space – a genuine single market for data, open to data from across the world. The goal is to create a genuine single market for data where personal as well as non-personal data, including sensitive business data, are secure. Thus, businesses, innovators and public authorities will have easy access to an almost infinite amount of high-quality data, boosting growth and creating value, whilst minimising the human environmental footprint.

The opinion of European citizens on data strategy is especially important in a post COVID-19 European Union. Data insights are used to track the spread of the pandemic and monitor health care, but will also play a role in rolling back the lockdowns. In the future, data insights will continue to play an important role in preventing and preparing for another pandemic. Therefore, the European Commission encourages all citizens to give their opinion on the European strategy for data.

The survey may take approximately 10 minutes, depending on your answers. The deadline to respond to the consultation is 31 May 2020, end of the day. The results of this survey will contribute to possible future Commission initiatives on access to and re-use of data. Access the public online consultation.
