Brussels-Capital Launches Open Data Portal
Central data portal for the public services in Brussels
Following its Smart City Strategy, Brussels-Capital Region launched its own Open Data Portal. By bringing together the various public bodies of the Brussels-Capital Region and partners, such as the local transport company and environmental agency, the portal is a gateway to regional datasets.
At the moment there are 93 datasets available, ranging from cadastral parcels to postal zones to traffic events. With the opportunity to request more datasets to be opened up, it is expected that this number will rapidly grow in the near future. The Data Portal makes use of the CKAN platform and the presented datasets are all accessible via API. To make sure the potential of the available open data is used to its fullest, developers are invited to take a look and use the data in their applications.
