Nairobi INSPIRE Hackathon 2019

A Hackathon for a sustainable Africa through cross-continental collaboration

Nairobi INSPIRE Hackathon has begun! The hackathon started in March by forming hackathon teams that will work remotely until the final event on 10 May 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya. Examples of projects are: Open Land Use of Africa (OLU4Africa), which explores open available data source to build a community and Open Transport Map (OTM) Applications for Africa, which aims to demonstrate how interactive traffic modelling applications can improve traffic in African cities.

The Nairobi INSPIRE Hackathon 2019 is one of the satellite INSPIRE hackathons and aims to build and strengthen relationships between several EU projects and African communities. The hackathon is organised under the frame of the IST Africa 2019 Conference and is tailored to cater for cross-continental collaboration. The IST Africa 2019 conference is supported by the European Commission (EC) and the African Union Commission (AUC). It aims to address a series of societal challenges, such as the future of agriculture, environmental sustainability, collaborative open innovation and ICT-enabled entrepreneurship.

Nairobi INSPIRE Hackathon 2019 is organised by Plan4all and Club of Ossiach association as well as EU projects, including EO4Agri, DataBio, NextGEOSS and EUXDAT.
