iRail: A service using open train data

iRail uses open train data in Belgium to show users the train times from different train stations cross Belgium.

iRail is a Belgian transportation service that is part of Open Knowledge Belgium. The platform uses open data from the official railway service - the National Society of Belgian Railways (NMBS/SNCB) - to inform users about the most efficient train options to get from one station to the other. By increasing awareness on the train options, the service aims to reduce the use of private cars in Belgium. In addition, iRail creates interfaces for developers who want to use transport data in Belgium to develop their own service or application.

iRail is one of the over 550 use cases published on the European Data Portal. If you are aware of another inspiring use case, share your experience and knowledge about different applications and websites using open data with the EDP via mail, Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn.
