EuroVelo

EuroVelo is the European Cycle Route Network and can be used by cycle enthusiasts to plan a next trip or holiday in Europe!

EuroVelo provides a diverse range of cycling routes in different regions across Europe. The website also provides news items on cycling holidays and supports a promotion campaign called ‘Restart cycle tourism’.

The map is set up by EuroVelo and the European Cyclists Federation. The organisations use open data on geolocation for the online map. Users can search for cycling paths per region and route or per country in Europe. The map provides nineteen cycling routes across regions and countries, for example an Atlantic Coast Route, a Capitals Route, and a Pilgrims Route.

The EuroVelo map is free to use and provides news pieces and in depth-information about cycle routes to users. Cycling is a sustainable and safe way of transportation in a post-lockdown Europe and is eco-friendly in comparison to cars. Thereby, cycling is good for overall public health.

EuroVelo is one of the over 650 use cases published on the European Data Portal. If you are aware of another inspiring use case, share your experience and knowledge on different applications and websites using open data with the EDP via mail, Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn.
