Kanarek monitors Polish air quality

The application Kanarek provides current information about air quality and smog in Poland

Kanarek is an application developed by Michal Tajchert that uses air pollution data to provide transparency about current air quality and smog in Poland. The application combines open data from 160 air quality stations of the Polish Environment Agency (CIEPD) and proprietary data from 393 additional stations of commercial providers to show levels of CO2, NO2 and others.

The aim of this application is to not only provide information on air quality, but to offer an easy way to compare air quality throughout Poland and to protect people from illnesses connected to air pollution such as respiratory disease. To do this, Kanarek shows a live map view of Poland and warns the user when the local air quality drops to a severe level.

Kanarek is one of the over 300 use cases published on the EDP. If you are aware of another inspiring use case, share your experience and knowledge on different applications and websites using open data with the EDP via mail, Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn.
