New report on the Spanish Infomediary sector

5th edition of the report has just been published

The European Data Portal report on the re-use of Open Data stressed the increasing importance of the infomediary sector. This refers to companies working on the collection, curation and aggregation of (Open) Data. Recently, a new report on the Spanish Infomediary sector has been published by the Spanish Multisectorial Information Association (ASEDIE).

The fifth edition of this annual report evaluates 636 Spanish companies whose activity is based on the re-use of public and/or private information to develop value-added products for third parties or citizens. The companies are active in a variety of sectors, including for instance financial services, meteorology and tourism.

According to the data provided in this last study, as in previous years most of the infomediary companies are located in Madrid (38%) and Catalonia (19%). The total revenues for the year 2015 increased to an amount of 1,705 billion EUR; which means an average turnover of 2.68 million euros per company. This is an increase in 2015 close to 2% in comparison with the previous year.
