The European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC) is an annual four-day event where experts, academics and officials from regions and cities' administrations from all over Europe can exchange best practices and information on regional and urban development. In addition, the event acts as a knowledge platform for official communication in relation to the development of EU cohesion policy and to raise the awareness of decision-makers about why and how regions and cities matter in EU policymaking. This year, the event will be held in Brussels, Belgium on 7 to 10 October.
The European Data Portal (EDP) will be at the EWRC again this year and will host a workshop about "Open data and rural regions and cities" on Wednesday 9 October at 16:30 to 19:00 CEST. At the workshop, we will
- analyse the current situation of collecting and delivering data and digital services in rural and low-connected or low population areas,
- identify future challenges in collecting and delivering data and digital services in rural areas, and
- determine possible solutions to these challenges.
Register and join the EDP's workshop to discuss digital literacy and skills, data collection and data re-use, and how data inclusivity can be increased in rural areas.
