Open Data hackathon in Prague

First public administration hackathon

Public administrations in the Czech Republic have about 7,300 information systems in place. These information systems conceal an unimaginable amount of data. Part of the public administration data is now available as Open Data. For example, www.otevrenadata.cz has an overview of all public institutions that publish their Open Data. And their number is growing. A National Open Data Catalogue was created, accessible on https://data.gov.cz, in which all Open Data are registered.

Under the motto 'It is your state, come improve it!' several governmental institutions joined forces and decided to hold the first public administration hackathon. The hackathon takes place on Friday 15 September and Saturday 16 September in Prague. Several mentors will be available to assist participants, for instance from the Czech Statistical Office, the Czech Office for Surveying and Cadastre and the Czech Ministry of Interior.

More information about the hackathon can be found on a dedicated page, where one could also sign up for the hackathon.
