Consultation on the Orientation of the Digital Europe Programme

The consultation for the Orientation of the Digital Europe Programme will be open until 25 October 2019

The European Commission (EC) has opened a consultation on the Orientation for the first two years of the Digital Europe Programme. The Digital Europe Programme will invest in digital technologies and bring a direct investment of €9.2 billion (subject to the agreement of the Council and the European Parliament) to the deployment of innovative digital technologies in five key areas: supercomputing, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, advanced digital skills, and ensuring a wide use of digital technologies across the economy and society in a way that aligns with Europe's sustainability goals and values.

The Digital Europe Programme has several aims. Namely, it intends to:

  • Improve Europe's competitive stance in the global digital economy;
  • Increase Europe's technological autonomy by building capacity, testing digital technologies, and deploying them; and
  • Reinforce the positive impacts of the Digital Single Market's policy achievements across the EU.

The objective of the consultation is to collect input from across Europe to finalise the Orientations for Digital Europe Programme.

Submit your contribution by completing the online survey. The consultation closes on 25 October and is open to anyone interested in the digital transformation of Europe's economy and society.
