Norway's Open Data guidelines just got more demanding!

New guidelines for the publication of Open Data

The Norwegian Government has just released their updated Open Data guidelines for public organisations. These guidelines are raising the game for Open Data in Norway and are built upon international best practices - in particular the Share-PSI and W3C data on the web best practices. The guidelines are included in the 'Circular on Digitisation' which all State Public Bodies are obliged to follow.

National guidelines are important because they harmonise the way in which Open Data is published. Norway has gone from 8 to 15 guidelines. Public organisations are encouraged to not only ensure that they share their data in the most user friendly, accessible and proactive way possible, but also to recognise that sharing is not enough as they have a role to encourage the usage of their data.
