Ireland launches Open Data Engagement Fund

Promoting the use of open data on the national Open Data portal data.gov.ie

The Irish Minister of State for Public Procurement, Open Government and eGovernment announced new specifications of the 2017/2018 Open Data Engagement Fund.

The Open Data Engagement Fund was initiated in cooperation with the Open Data Governance Board (ODGB). This competitive Fund (worth €30,000 in total) aims to promote Open Data use on Ireland's national Open Data portal. Currently, this portal hosts about 5,500 datasets that are also available on the European Data Portal.

Funds will be awarded to applicants for:

  1. Organising various engagement activities (e.g. seminars, competitions and hackathons);
  2. Building applications;
  3. Developing visualisations;
  4. Conducting Open Data driven research to create public sector efficiencies and assist government decision-making.
