Experiment with city data to solve urban challenges

OrganiCity launches call

The EU project OrganiCity provides a service for experimentation that explores how citizens, businesses and city authorities can work together to create digital solutions to urban challenges. The project is now open for applications to experiment with urban data.

Your idea for an experiment can receive up to 60.000 Euros to support the technical integration across the three cities that participate in the project - Aarhus (Denmark), London (United Kingdom) and Santander (Spain) - plus expand into new cities. OrganiCity is funding experiments involving urban (Open) Data and the Internet of Things. Urban data would be any information generated in the city context which can be measured: temperature, pollution, traffic levels, footfall, green areas, etc. Proposed experiments might:

  • Capture data which has not been measured yet (perhaps through deploying different sensors);
  • Merge datasets to uncover new information;
  • Analyse existing data through new algorithms;
  • Give people access to data through visualisations or in a different form;
  • Encourage people to act upon new, existing or merged data;
  • Involve urban utilities or other owners of data in improving existing services or conceiving new ones.

The call is open until 31 August 2017. Would you like to know more about the project and maybe take part in this experiment? Visit the project website and find out more!
