The Dutch open data portal organised a user meeting to discuss open data

On 12 April 2019, the user meeting of the Dutch Open Data Portal (data.overheid.nl) took place in The Hague, the Netherlands. The meeting was organised by the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom relations to connect data owners, data re-users and people who are professionally or generally interested in open data to exchange their experience and ideas. The European Data Portal joined the meeting and presented about the EU Datathon 2019.

After an update on the latest developments in the Dutch open data community, participants attended different workshops, for example, the workshop on the impact of open data led by Jelle Verburg from data.overheid.nl. During this interactive workshop, participants were challenged to think of ways to measure the impact of open data both qualitatively and quantitatively. One of the suggested qualitative ideas was to carry out in-depth interviews with people that use applications that are based on the re-use of open data to gain insights into how these open data applications impact their lives.

Another workshop was led by the Dutch start-up Flamingo.report. The founders of the start-up showed how they integrated and analysed different open data sources, such as open data from Statistics Netherlands and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, to provide people with insights on their neighbourhoods, for example, insights on air-quality or bicycle accidents.
