Evaluation and assessment of the INSPIRE directive

Share your thoughts on the use of infrastructure for spatial information in the EU

Since the entry into force of the Infrastructure for Spatial Information, (INSPIRE) Directive in 2007, more and more spatial data is being published on the internet by public authorities or organizations working on their behalf. The European Data Portal provides access to Inspire datasets and engages to increase the use and the impact of geospatial data. The Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the EU, the INSPIRE Directive, plays an important role in facilitating such sharing.

The European Commission is conducting a study to see how the sharing of geospatial data between public authorities and with the public could be improved across the EU. Despite raising focus on geospatial data and its reuse, experience shows that there is room for improvement. Therefore the European Commission calls users and producers of geospatial data to share their experiences and thoughts on the use of this 'infrastructure' by answering an online questionnaire. Share your feedback to support effective sharing of geospatial data. The study is highly relevant for improving INSPIRE - and as such for policies and initiatives that benefit from an efficiently functioning spatial data infrastructure.
